Topic:  “Get protected” – identity management and live hacking workshop

Address the business benefits of deploying a managed authentication solution as part of a managed security service. With all of the opportunities that technology and open environments bring to a company, they also bring increased risks and vulnerabilities. Many managers are now forced to live with growing concerns relating to unauthorized users, disgruntled employees, industrial spies, hackers and over-inquisitive employees compromising and exploiting their information systems. It is equally important to discourage legitimate users from accidentally deleting files or stumbling into parts of the business that they should not be able to access. Perhaps more importantly, as companies extend their customer reach through the internet it becomes increasingly critical to know exactly whom you are dealing with on the other end of the wire.

Our workshop session is designed to:

• Provide an understanding over how IT Security has increased an organisations risk profile giving rise to a potential gap in risk coverage
• Highlight the security challenges faced by organisations with regard to Identity Management and authentication
• Examine hacker techniques and motivations (Internal, External, Remote / Wireless attacks) on ‘static passwords’ whilst drawing upon real world cases
• Consider a smart authentication solution that addresses the risk over the single weakest point in the standard site-security model – ‘static passwords’

Course times and documentation

Registration starts at 8:30am.  The course will commence at 9:00am and finish at 1:00pm.  Morning tea will be provided.  Participants will receive comprehensive documentation including all presentation material. 

About your workshop leaders

Jason Hart is CEO and Head of Information Security Services at WhiteHat Consultancy (UK) Ltd. Jason holds a Degree in Micro Electronics and holds CISSP, CISM, Security +, BS7799 Lead Auditor qualifications and is currently studying a Masters degree in Information Security and Computer Crime. Noted as a leading figure within the information security industry, Jason often speaks at security events across Europe, and most recently was keynote speaker at InfoSec in 2004 and 2005.

Malcolm MacTaggart, President and CEO of CRYPTOCard Corp., the innovative leader in Secure Password Technology, has been a recognized thought leader in the identity management and authentication space for over 25 years. Before working at World Wise, where he served as Vice President of Marketing responsible for corporate marketing strategies and business development, MacTaggart was General Manager at Microsoft Canada.
